PROFILE, GROOVE AND LENGTH
Window seal replacement starts with identifying the material and cross-section, not buying universal adhesive tape. Seal location, groove retention and corner condition matter. Labour is calculated by the agreed linear length; new seal material is separate. An oversized seal can hinder closing, while the wrong shape may not stay in its groove. If the gap comes from sash alignment or the frame-to-wall joint, replacing the gasket alone will not solve it. A photograph of an accessible seal end and the frame marking help assessment without unnecessary dismantling.

Signs of seal wear
Cracks, hardening and deformation warrant assessment. Moisture between glass panes is not normally a perimeter sash-gasket fault.
Seal type and profile compatibility
The retaining foot, height and location matter. Groove-fitted seals and factory-integrated seals require different approaches.
How is linear length counted?
We add the agreed runs, not the glass area. The form accepts 0.1-metre increments; the measurement is preliminary and the scope is confirmed before work.
Replacement or adjustment?
A sound seal with uneven contact may need hardware assessment first. A thicker gasket is not a substitute for correct adjustment.

Is new material included in the metre rate?
No. The rate covers labour; seal type, quantity and purchase are agreed separately.
Can I request 2.5 metres?
Yes, enter 2.5 m. It is not rounded to whole metres, and the visit minimum applies to the combined work.
Can every factory seal be removed?
No. Some are integrated into the profile. Construction must be established before agreeing replacement.
